Muslim leaders in Canada have pledged to fight religious intolerance and racism in their community.

The “Canadian Muslim Council” announced Tuesday it will hold a news conference on Monday, Sept. 29, in the National Assembly of the Muslim Community of Canada (AMC).

The AMC, the nation’s largest Muslim umbrella group, was founded in 1965 and is considered the umbrella organization of all Muslim communities.

“As we move forward in our national and international dialogue, we will continue to be steadfast in our commitment to build a society where all Canadians, regardless of faith, can thrive and build a better Canada,” the AMC said in a statement.
