The most important fact about Islam is the word of God, according to one Muslim scholar, and he thinks it should be taught to children as well as adults.
It is a fact of life that there is no other religion that has reached the same level of popularity, and that the majority of the world’s Muslims believe in God, Sheikh Ali Ibrahim of the Saudi-based Islamic Foundation for Religious Freedom said in a recent interview with the Guardian newspaper.
Ibrahim said he is concerned that the spread of Islam in the United States, which has seen a surge in attacks on Muslims, has led to a “dangerous climate of hatred and extremism”.
“I am not sure that any other religion is more misunderstood and misquoted by the general public than Islam,” he said.
“I believe the world would be a better place if the world understood Islam in a way that does not confuse it with other religions.”
The Guardian contacted the Muslim American Society, a US-based Muslim organisation, for comment but was told that the organisation “does not comment on individual candidates”.
